APC to Take Legal Action Against ECSL
Mohamed Foday Conteh Member of Parliament for the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC), Abdul Kargbo, has revealed that his party will challenge the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) in court following their announcement of the Presidential results on Tuesday.
“We will seek legal means because that is what our party believes in,” Kargbo said.
During an interview with Radio Democracy, Kargbo also disclosed pitfalls at the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) Tally Centre in Port Loko, North-Western Region.
“No one was shown the RR forms, and inputting of figures was done in secrecy,” Kargbo revealed in the interview.
He said the process was flawed because they could not confirm whether what they had was the same as what was being inputted by the ECSL.
“We were assured (by ECSL) that they would give us details of what they have inputted to cross-check and verify with what we have,” the APC Parliamentarian said.
He added that they had confidence in the Commission after the assurance and were left surprised when 60 percent of the results were announced by the Chief Electoral Commissioner, Mohamed Konneh.
“60 percent of the results should have included the 300 stations in Kambia, but when it was announced, Kambia results were not even at the Tally Centre.
“We asked where they got the Kambia results, and we were told that the results were still in the field,” he said.
He said the practice breached provisions in the Public Elections Act because the results were uncertified.
In response, the National Secretary General of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Umaru Napoleon Koroma, supported the main opposition’s decision to challenge the result legally.
“I’m happy they are going to take the legal means,” Koroma said.
President Bio was announced as the winner with just over 56 percent and was sworn in on the same day.
The leadership of the APC detested the result, claiming that it was rigged by some of Bio’s party members and the ECSL.
With S/L as a Democratic county all we needed was free and fair election.

What justice you think you will get in reporting a child to his/ her rogue mother? Going to these SLPP courts is like legalizing the illegality. Mind you, that’s another way of making law; by court precedence.
