President Bio Sacks Lahai Lawrence Leema as Internal Affairs Deputy Minister
Aaron Parker President Julius Maada Bio has announced the dismissal of Lahai Lawrence Leema from his role as the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, The President has subsequently named Mr. Moriba Koroma as the new Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.
The dismissal of Leema comes in the wake of allegations surrounding Leema’s purported involvement in the extra-judicial killings of citizens during the curfew hours of the August 10th protests.
Earlier reports had surfaced, indicating that the former Internal Affairs Minister had been excluded from the 2023 election campaign team due to his alleged role in the August 10th protests.
These allegations led to his subsequent invitation to appear before the Special Committee, a body instituted by President Bio to investigate the events of August 10th. The Committee, however, noted that Leema failed to attend the scheduled meetings, despite multiple invitations extended to him.
In response to the accusations, Leema explained that he had not been properly informed about his inclusion in the Committee. He stated that he received a last-minute call from Rtd. Colonel Njoto, informing him of his required presence at the Committee meeting. Leema further elaborated that he had notified the caller of his lack of prior notification and indicated his unavailability due to other commitments. He assured that he would be willing to participate if the meeting was rescheduled.
Leema vehemently denied receiving any subsequent communication from the Committee until he was contacted by the Coordinator of the Office of National Security (ONS), who accused him of deliberately evading the Committee’s inquiries.
The former minister expressed his disappointment at the lack of direct communication from the Committee to discuss the events of August 10th. He characterized the situation as an unfortunate attempt to tarnish his reputation both among Sierra Leoneans and in the eyes of the President.
Senior members of the party reportedly advised Leema to step away from his role due to the mounting allegations against him. His name had been implicated in numerous controversies, leading to concerns about his suitability for a prominent position within the government.
This is ridiculous, a disheartened party strong man left in the wilderness it’s horrendous. Is this the way the party elders reward other boys?
Leema should be judge for those allegation against him. The evidences are flying around social media of him carrying out extra judicial killings, it should be investigated if not now, I am sure he will face judgement one day.
I believe that Lahai Leema is innocent over the allegelacton made against him God in heaven will fight him and reward him in Jesus mighty name 🙏
The greatest mistake done by Maada Bio. Lawrence Leema of off people should not be sack no matter the gravity of offence he might have committed.
What a shame for the SLPP party , yesterday is JJ Saffa and today is Leema who is going to bee next again. Waiting to see who is next
Why is it that people who always fight a good cause in Sierra Leone are rewarded badly, protesters who were killing police officer, burnt down government facility, this committee has some things to do outside malice.
I hope that the president is now ready to structure the party properly. Some of those ministers, deserves dismissed

As many protesters are in jail running their term let the law call him and answer to his crime from the said incident if he’s guilty then let the take it action against him
In this life, be careful of what you do and always do the right thing so that, nothing will implicates you.
Even if he does I think he did it out of self defense. Remember the rules of engagement says, no law do not affect your general right to self-defense. What if the protesters had succeeded in overthrowing the SLPP government on August 10th?

All what they are claiming he did ,I think it was for a safety retaliation of the Government and the people of Sierra Leone. If the president could describe the actions of the August 10 protesters as terrorist act, then why the personal look on Leema. To be kind enough, even if that is the case as they have assumed, I see no need as a political family to use this against Leema. Had people not done something worse than this in other political families?
SLPP and team, be mindful of what you do at this point in time.
This is even going to frighten others to safe guard the interest and safety of the party in the hands of harmful opponents.
