Netizens Identify Military Officer Who Allegedly Shot Big Fish to Death in Freetown
Deborah Sorie The identity of a young military officer involved in the shooting of former local musician, Foday Alieu, known popularly as “Big Fish,” in Freetown last Thursday has come to light.
Previously, Sierraloaded reported about the tragic event in Freetown that led to the death of the well-known musician, leaving another person wounded.
ACP Brima Sandi, the Media Head for the Sierra Leone Police Force, detailed that during the incident, a female police officer was on duty at the United Bank of Africa (UBA). Big Fish entered the bank grounds, overpowered the officer, seizing her gun, and then began firing indiscriminately, with five shots being fired into an open space.
Upon being challenged by the aforementioned military officer, Big Fish shot at him. Fortunately, due to his bulletproof gear, the officer remained unharmed. He had no choice but to retaliate, resulting in Big Fish’s death.
The late Alieu was buried at the Kingtom Cemetery last Sunday.
The entire incident, especially Big Fish’s death, has sparked varied reactions among Sierra Leoneans. While some are puzzled about how an unarmed civilian could overpower a police officer, others commend the bravery of the military officer who responded. However, there’s also a portion who criticizes the deadly response. Sierra Eye’s article sheds light on some underlying issues surrounding the event.

The young military 🪖 officer has a nationalistic spirit, he put the country first and acted bravely to save the lost of many lives and properties.
As far as I am concern, this is unprofessional. The military man would have shot him on the leg or arm. Why did he have to shot to kill? What lives are you saying he saved? Did big fish harm anyone with the gun?
Let’s me rational sometimes with our thoughts on issues like this. Mental health and depression is real and people need to be sensitize on it.

God knows how many rounds where loaded up in that gun he forcefully took from the hands of that poor police officer (lady) who was serving the nation too.
I wish all those that are behind the late big fish would have shot to death by that weapon. Sometimes people don’t know why they are living, who knows how many lives could have been destroy by him if it was not by the grace of God that passed through that officer?
Imagine if that incident would have escalated to serious deaths tolls who would have been blame for that the president because some of this comments are baseless and unpatriotic.
It is good example done,for the police officer and the military officer and also the citizens. Because big fish should have face the law and sentence to prison instead of grave and the police officer may dismiss immediately,yes to the military officer,criminal should always live to feel their actions in prison.
In any action there must be a reaction. The plight of seizing an arm from an officer”police or military personnel with no state permission, one has committed a big crime. According to the movies seen, Big fish (late) was the first to shoot either in an attempt to retrieve treat or was done with no hesitation. If you are the military man at that point a time will you observe where to shoot or you should do everything humanly possible to defend your life and protect the civilians.
When big fish had shooted the young military officer, What if the young military officer should had shooted big fish on his leg and later big fish shot the young military officer on his head. What would have been the reactions of the people of Sierra Leone? This would have been the same people to criticize the military force as an untrained military force.

This should be a trigger to the ministry in charge of the country’s defence to ensure that our respective forces undergo the proper trainings and been provided with the adequate resources, knowledge, that would ensure that the country and its citizens protection’s integrity can not be easily undermined. This can be achieved by firstly been mindful of ensuring how the recruitment process is been done. They should ensure that proper screening should be done.
