Minister of Transport Chairs Robert Flight Information Region Meeting
Mohamed Aruna Sierra Leone’s Minister of Transport and Aviation, Fanday Turay has chaired a meeting of the Robert Flight Information Region (Robert FIR).
The Robert Flight Information Region Council of ministers is responsible for transport and aviation in the member states of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
The minister maintained that, there is an aeronautical cooperation between them with regards their combined upper airspace, which is fundamental to growth of their aviation sectors in the different countries.
Many Sierra Leoneans viewed this development as a great move in the sector of having the three countries having a united force in the airspace.
All the three representatives from the countries expressed commitment to working together in achieving the goal as discussed in protecting the airspace.
The Roberts Flight Information Region (RFIR) was established on January 17, 1975 when Guinea Conakry, Liberia, and Sierra Leone set up an aeronautical cooperative venture to provide air navigation services for en-route flights (above 3,000 feet AGL) in their combined airspace.
