In December of last year, Sierra Leone was re-selected to proceed with the Compact Development process, underscoring the nation’s progress and commitment to meeting MCC’s rigorous standards. The anticipated program is set to provide approximately $450 million in funding from the U.S. government, targeting critical improvements in Sierra Leone’s energy infrastructure.
The MCC Compact is a five-year grant program designed to promote economic growth, reduce poverty, and strengthen institutions. For Sierra Leone, this funding represents a transformative opportunity to address longstanding challenges in the energy sector, which is crucial for economic development and improving the quality of life for its citizens.
