National Fullah Progressive Union Condemn Discriminatory Police Arrests
Bernice Bangura The National Fullah Progressive Union has strongly condemned the recent arrest of innocent Sierra Leonean Fullahs during a police operation at Lumley Beach in Freetown.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday, December 15th, has sparked widespread outrage and accusations of ethnic profiling. While the operation was intended to identify undocumented foreign nationals, primarily Guineans, many Fullahs, a prominent tribe in Sierra Leone with historical ties to Guinea, were reportedly targeted.
Social media has been flooded with posts from concerned citizens who have expressed their disappointment and anger over the discriminatory treatment. Many have questioned the rationale behind singling out Fullahs, arguing that nationality is determined by citizenship and not ethnicity.
“We strongly condemn the arbitrary and indiscriminate arrest of innocent Sierra Leonean fullahs. We call on the government to immediately release those arrested and hold those responsible accountable.” a statement by The National Fullah Progressive Union – Sierra Leone said.
Following public outcry, those arrested during the operation have reportedly been released. However, the incident has raised serious concerns about police conduct and the potential for further discrimination.
The Fullah community and other concerned citizens are calling for a thorough investigation into the matter and for the government to take steps to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
The vice president must kick out first because he’s a Guinean fullah, he didn’t deserve that position just because the president sold his birth rights for campaign money to him. Now his family are bullying innocent citizens in country.
