Koidu Court Issues Strict Sentences Over 5 High Profile Criminal Cases

Justice Augustine K. Mũsa presided over a high profile criminal cases at the Sefadu High Court D.O. Barracks in Koidu City, issuing heavy punishments and reaffirming the judiciary’s dedication to justice.

Mohamed Conteh, who led the convictions, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping an eight-year-old primary school student.

Justice Mũsa expressed alarm about the rising number of such incidents, despite attempts by First Lady Fatima Jabbie Maada Bio to protect kids.

In another case, Alice Kumba Kaimondo was sentenced to 12 months in prison for intentionally hurting someone. The court determined that on Christmas Day 2024, Kaimondo caused serious bodily harm to Alpha Kaimondo in Biama Tankaro Chiefdom.

Ibrahim Rogers received a 15-year sentence after being found guilty of manslaughter in connection with a deadly occurrence on January 5, 2025, at Koidu City’s Resettlement Area.

Alie Maculley was convicted of housebreaking and theft and sentenced to 48 months in jail.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Kanu and David Kamara, who pleaded guilty to manslaughter, received ten-year sentences. Both offenders expressed regret and asked for mercy before their sentences were imposed.
