U.S. Immigration Deports Convicted Murderer to Sierra Leone
Sorie Abubakar The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced today the removal of Abdul Dukuray, a citizen of Sierra Leone, following his convictions for murder and weapons possession.
Dukuray was taken into ICE custody after his conviction and subsequently deported to Sierra Leone upon completing legal proceedings.
While his full criminal history was not immediately disclosed, Sierraloaded learnt that Dukuray and three others were sentenced in October 2022 to six years in a state prison after pleading no contest to third-degree murder in the killing of a 19-year-old.
This marks the second deportation of a Sierra Leonean national since the Trump administration intensified efforts to remove illegal immigrants with criminal records.
On March 1, 2025, Prince Solomon Knox, a 62-year-old Sierra Leonean, was deported after convictions for visa fraud and domestic assault. Knox had falsely denied his past ties to armed groups, including the Revolutionary United Front (RUF), during his U.S. visa application.
ICE officials reiterated their commitment to identifying and removing individuals who violate U.S. immigration laws, particularly those with criminal histories. The agency works closely with foreign governments to ensure the safe and efficient repatriation of deportees
