The All People’s Congress (APC) party’s Internal Elections Management Committee (IEMC) is set to hold a three-day Technical Retreat in Makeni from June 27 to June 29, 2025.
As affirmed by the electoral committee management, the retreat aims to prepare the IEMC for the upcoming internal party elections, ensuring that the electoral process is free, fair, and credible.
As the sole authority responsible for overseeing elections at all levels within the APC, the IEMC is tasked with counting and announcing election results in accordance with Articles 42 and 54 of the party’s constitution, which was established in March 2022.
The retreat will feature experts in elections, constitutional law, and information and communication technology, alongside interactive sessions aimed at fostering collaboration among participants.
During the retreat, the technical team will align the IEMC’s strategies, tools, and timelines with the Party’s Constitution, Election Rules and Regulations, and the IEMC Manual.
The IEMC expressed belief that the event will resonate with party stakeholders, as it transcends mere planning and focuses on securing electoral legitimacy and restoring internal trust in the APC’s democratic processes.
The IEMC further emphasized the importance of stakeholder participation, stating that it is crucial for all members to voice their concerns, contribute insights, and provide constructive suggestions throughout the process, stating that the gathering is not just an ordinary planning exercise; it is a pivotal step toward ensuring electoral legitimacy and rebuilding internal trust within the APC.
The IEMC reaffirmed its commitment to operate with impartiality, competence, and fidelity to the party’s Constitution. The strength of the IEMC notably lies in meticulous preparation, and this retreat offers a valuable opportunity to address technical deficiencies and standardize electoral procedures.
