In a firm ruling delivered on July 29, 2025, the court dismissed an application filed by Thomas Daddy Brima and Aminata Bangura, citing that the action was premature and procedurally flawed.
The court found that the applicants failed to exhaust the internal mechanisms set out by the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) before turning to the judicial system.
The applicants had undertaken to pay damages if the injunction was later found to be wrongly granted a risk the court ruled against them. The judge emphasized that the potential damage caused by halting the Respondents was far greater than allowing them to proceed.
Counsel for the Respondents applied for cost, arguing that the applicants were warned, yet recklessly proceeded. The court agreed and ordered Thomas Daddy Brima and Aminata Bangura to pay a total of NLe 240,000.00 (Two Hundred and Forty Thousand Leones) as costs to the Respondents.
This ruling sends a clear message about the importance of respecting institutional procedures and not abusing judicial processes for premature legal actions.
