The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has elected Jimmy Batilo Songa as its new National Chairman following the party’s 14th National Delegates Conference.

The election took place at the Freetown International Conference Center, Bintumani Complex, where delegates from across the nation convened to participate in the event.

Songa, who previously served as the National Organizing Secretary, won the chairmanship in a competitive race against ING Kanneh.

The conference was characterized by a spirit of celebration and unity among party members, who expressed excitement over the election results.

Chief Minister of Sierra Leone, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, addressed the delegates following the election, describing the conference as “a beautiful family gathering.”

He asserted the inclusive nature of the event, stating, “From all across the country, people of all ages have been celebrating while choosing our national executive officers in an open, fair, and transparent process.”

Sengeh reiterated the importance of maintaining harmony within the party, echoing President Julius Maada Bio’s call for graciousness among both winners and losers. “Winners must be magnanimous and losers graceful. That’s our promise to the party,” he remarked.
