A young boy, identified only as James, has died after drowning at Bawadi Junction in Koidu City, Kono District
The boy, believed to be about seven or eight years old, was not known in the area, and people who live nearby say they had not seen him before the incident. His presence in the area was unfamiliar, and there were no reports of him being with any family member or guardian at the time.
The incident took place at Bawadi Junction, a central spot that connects several neighborhoods, including Yardu Gbense, Kamadu, Old Water Works, and Dorma. The area sees a lot of daily movement, with people from different parts of Koidu passing through for business, school, or other activities.
People in the area believe the drowning was an accident. There is no evidence at this time that anything suspicious or harmful was involved. Nothing so far suggests that someone else caused the incident, but how the boy ended up in the water is still not clear.
The body of the child was later recovered and taken to the Koidu Government Hospital, where medical staff will carry out further checks to confirm the cause of death.
Even though the boy was not known in the community, many people have expressed concern about what happened. The incident has raised questions and left residents unsettled, especially those living near Bawadi Junction.
