The Minister of Communication, Technology and Innovation, Salima Monorma Bah, welcomed a high-level delegation from the People’s Republic of China, led by Madam Wang Yanling, Secretary of the CPC Party Leadership Group and Executive Deputy Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Hubei Provincial People’s Congress.
In her speech, Minister Bah expressed appreciation for China’s longstanding support of Sierra Leone and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to deepening bilateral ties. She emphasized the importance of enhancing partnerships in digital transformation, capacity building, and technical cooperation.
The delegation included key officials such as Mr. Wang Runtao, Deputy Secretary-General and Director-General of the Standing Committee; Mr. Si Qingchuan, Vice President of the Hubei Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries; Mr. Cheng Lizhi, Director of the Coordination Division, Research Office; Ms. Zhang Min, Director of the European and African Affairs Division, Hubei Provincial Foreign Affairs Office; and Ms. Wang Ting, Division Director-Level Member of the Secretariat.
Minister Bah reaffirmed the Ministry’s interest in expanding collaboration on innovation, infrastructure, and human capital development.
The Chinese delegation outlined ongoing initiatives by the Hubei Provincial People’s Congress and related institutions aimed at fostering technology and innovation partnerships with Sierra Leonean universities.
The delegation stressed on the significance of people-to-people connections, technical knowledge exchange, and sustainable partnerships as vital drivers for mutual progress between Sierra Leone and China.
