The Chief Minister of the Republic of Sierra Leone, David Moinina Sengeh (phD) posted on his official Facebook page saying ‘’Kono is a place I hold dearly in my heart’’ and gave five reasons for saying that.
His First point was that President Bio cares deeply about Kono. Quoting President Bio, he said, “As the Leader of SLPP and President of Sierra Leone, he constantly reminds us about the investments. we must do there the Kono University, the Kono roads, the Hospital, the Water supply, and more.
Secondly, Agriculture- the majority of the chiefdoms in Kono are farming ecologies. Only 3 chiefdoms have mines.

Furthermore, He noted that the youth of Kono are vibrant, entrepreneurial, and dynamic. When ‘’I interact with elders and youth from Kono, from my time as Minister of Education to now as Chief Minister, I am always inspired by their conviction of change.’’
Thirdly, Kono has embraced education, he said. There are many powerful elderly leaders (in particular, women) from Kono, and over the years, they have advocated for more schools to be built there. At Education, through the World Bank project, I allocated dozens of classrooms and schools to Kono at the request of these leaders.
Finally, Minister Sengeh said his number five point Why Kono is a place I hold dearly in my heart ‘’My father spent a huge chunk of his primary schooling days in Kono. He shares fond memories.’’
These photos were from when we gave dozens of machines to farmers in Kono last year. He said.
