Star Zee Hails First Lady as ‘Woman King’ Following Parliament Backlash

Popular Sierra Leonean female hip-hop star, Anita Sabra widely known as Star Zee has publicly defended the First Lady of Sierra Leone, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, following recent criticism directed at her during the ceremonial opening of the Sixth Parliament.

In her statements, Star Zee labeled Fatima Bio as “The Woman King,” emphasizing her personal struggles and contributions toward the country, urging the public to recognize her humanity.

“Sometimes, people forget that behind the title, First Lady, is a human being with feelings, scars, and stories untold,” Star Zee stated.

She acknowledged that while no one is perfect, Fatima Bio has faced challenges that many could not endure. “She has stood in storms most of us could never survive,” Star Zee added.

Star Zee praised Fatima Bio for her advocacy on important issues, noting, “She has taken hits for causes that matter, spoken up when silence was easier, and carried the weight of criticism with a smile that hides the pain.”

The rapper stressed that, regardless of differing opinions, the First Lady has made a significant impact on the lives of girls and women in Sierra Leone.

“I choose not to laugh or throw stones. I choose to acknowledge the woman, the fighter, the mother, and the dreamer who has given so much of herself for Sierra Leone,” Star Zee declared.

She concluded her statement by asserting that while some may focus on political controversies, “history will remember her courage,” referring to Bio as “the Woman King.”
