In a move aimed at strengthening the national team’s preparations for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifier, the newly elected SLFA President Babadi Kamara has offered the Southern Arena as a dedicated training facility for the Leone Stars.
The decision was revealed during a meeting at the SLFA Secretariat on Friday, August 15, 2025.
The Leone Stars are set to compete against Guinea-Bissau on September 4, 2025, followed by a match against Ethiopia on September 9, 2025.

President Kamara outlined the benefits of training at the Southern Arena, stating, “Holding the training camp at the Southern Arena would ensure fewer distractions and enhance focus for both the technical team and players during and after training sessions.”
He further noted that the facility would provide an environment conducive to professional and productive training, which is vital for the team’s physical and mental readiness for the crucial fixtures ahead.

The team is expected to begin official training on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. The meeting in which Babadi made the disclosure concluded with President Kamara and Vice President 1, Alie Badara Tarawalie, who also leads the Technical Committee, exchanging pleasantries with Head Coach Mohamed Kallon and his technical staff, reflecting a shared commitment to the success of Sierra Leone’s national team.
