Authorities are investigating the death of Abubakarr Sidique Kamara, a former resident of 50 Main Motor Road, Kambia Section, Lungi, following reports that he was allegedly beaten by five individuals. The incident occurred in Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom, Port Loko District, and has drawn significant public attention.
According to police sources, three of the prime suspects are currently in custody at the Lungi Police Division in Tintafor, while a key suspect remains at large and two others are on conditional release. The head of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at Lungi Police Division, ASP Kamara, confirmed that Madam Kamara and four others are under investigation for manslaughter, murder, and abuse of human dignity.
“Despite the postmortem result is out, office of chief registration of birth and deaths, and cause of death certificate, but we are waiting for the regional state solicitor adviser before making any decision on the alleged matter”, he stated.
ASP Kamara noted that substantial progress has been made in uncovering evidence and that the case is attracting media and public interest due to its potential implications for law enforcement accountability and governance. Two suspects, Alhaji Santigie Sesay and Madam Kamara, have been granted bail.
The investigation follows statements from Kadijah Kamara, a senior sister of the deceased, who reported receiving a distress call on July 21, 2025. She said that Mr. Johnson Kamara informed her that Junior Abubakarr Sidique Kamara was in a coma. She also claimed to have seen Alhaji Santigie Sesay and three other individuals knocking on their door around 1 a.m. on the same night.
“We saw Alhaji with three boys in a car including my late brother. But we rejected the body, considering the odd the time. I and my mother were not knowledgeable about anything. So, we asked Alhaji and Co. to take the body at the nearest hospital,” Kadija stated.
Police are awaiting advice from the regional state solicitor before deciding on further action. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the death.
