The Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Environment and Climate Change has carried out an inspection visit to the CTL Company at Mile 91, as part of its nationwide assessment of industrial compliance with environmental and workplace safety standards.
The committee’s engagement focused on reviewing CTL’s operational practices, safety protocols, and environmental management systems. Members toured the company’s production facilities, interacted with management, and examined measures in place for waste management, emissions control, and employee safety.
According to the committee, such visits are essential to ensuring that industries operate in line with national environmental laws and international standards. While acknowledging CTL’s ongoing efforts to minimize environmental impact, the committee urged the company to strengthen areas requiring improvement.
The oversight body emphasized that protecting ecosystems and safeguarding communities remain central to Sierra Leone’s push for sustainable industrial growth. The visit, it noted, reflects the government’s commitment to balancing economic development with environmental responsibility.
