The Sierra Leone Police, in a press release, has clarified the presence of members of the Burkina Faso Mokorbike Association in Sierra Leone after an alarm from the public.

According to the Sierra Leone Police, the Government of Burkina Faso, through the Office of the Honorary Consul to Sierra Leone, requested security assistance for the tourist visit of a delegation from the Burkina Faso Mokorbike Association, which was granted by the Minister of Internal Affairs.

The tour, according to the police, is an annual regional event undertaken by the Burkina Faso Mokorbike Association to foster cooperation, cultural exchange, and mutual collaboration among member countries in the sub-region. The Burkina Faso Mokorbike Association is said to host its Sierra Leone counterpart to strengthen people-to-people and cultural ties.

The press release assured the public that there is no cause for alarm, adding that there are adequate security arrangements to ensure the safety of the delegation, their host, and the general public throughout their stay in Sierra Leone.

The police assured the public of its commitment to maintaining law and order while promoting peace, security, and regional cooperation.
