The Sierra Leone Weightlifting Association presented medals won by athlete Francis Kondeh at the 2025 Africa Junior and Youth Weightlifting Championship to Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, Executive Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA).

The ceremony, held at the NSA headquarters, notably highlights the association’s commitment to excellence in sports.

The Technical Director of the association, Sallieu Kamara, reflected on their journey prior to the championship, stating, “We came to seek Dr. Abdulai’s blessings before our journey, and indeed his prayers were with us throughout. We promised to return with medals, and we delivered. Today, we are back to present the medals and certificates of outstanding performance to the NSA.”

Abdulai expressed his pride in Kondeh’s accomplishments and the association’s efforts, noting, “You have done remarkably well amidst challenges. The NSA and the entire nation are proud of this outstanding achievement on the continental stage.”

He emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering sports development and announced that the NSA is working on sustainable plans to support all sporting disciplines, particularly those that bring recognition to Sierra Leone.

In his closing statement, Abdulai encouraged athletes to maintain their dedication and focus in training, regardless of the competitive calendar. “Stay committed and focused on your training, whether or not competitions are forthcoming,” he advised, reinforcing the importance of perseverance in achieving future successes.
