The U.S. Embassy has announced a new policy requiring all nonimmigrant visa applicants to schedule their interviews exclusively at their country’s embassy or consulate, effective immediately.
According to the Embassy, this decision is aimed at strengthening the integrity of the visa process and ensuring that applications are handled efficiently within the applicant’s country of legal standing.
The Embassy further noted that scheduling an interview outside of one’s country of nationality or permanent residence could negatively affect visa eligibility and may even result in refusal.
Applicants are also reminded that all fees paid for U.S. nonimmigrant visa applications are strictly non-refundable, regardless of outcome or location of appointment. The Embassy therefore strongly advises applicants to adhere to this directive in order to avoid delays, complications, or financial loss
