The Albert Academy has launched its 121st Anniversary celebrations alongside the reintroduction of a single-shift system, which school leaders say will help restore discipline and academic excellence.
Speaking at the press conference on the theme “The Change We Want Is Here,” Professor Ezekiel Duramany Lakkoh, chairman of the anniversary committee, described the reform as a turning point in the institution’s history.
He said the single-shift model would strengthen discipline, raise standards, and give students an environment to thrive.
Board member John K. Ansumana also welcomed the reform, noting that with nearly 2,000 students, the school continues to build on its tradition of producing leaders. The Board of Governors and the United Methodist Church were commended for their role in supporting the transition.

President of the Albert Academy Alumni Association, Bismarck Coker, highlighted the school’s long-standing academic achievements, citing its record in the 2003 WASSCE as an example of its impact on education in Sierra Leone. He also announced new initiatives, including annual graduation ceremonies for both JSS3 and SSS3 students.
As part of the anniversary calendar, the school confirmed that its Annual Thanksgiving Service will take place on the last Sunday of October.
