The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Sierra Leone on Friday, October 3, 2025, convened a roundtable dialogue aimed at accelerating progress toward eliminating harmful practices in the country.

The meeting brought together survivors, government representatives, civil society partners, UN agencies, and a high-level delegation from the Government of Iceland, led by the Director General of the International Development Cooperation Directorate.

The dialogue was part of an Iceland-funded programme through which UNFPA collaborates with national and community actors to transform harmful social norms, empower adolescent girls and young women, and improve access to evidence that informs interventions against harmful practices.

At the conclusion of the discussions, participants reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of girls and young women and advancing Sierra Leone’s gender and human rights priorities.
