His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio has urged the Leone Stars to make necessary improvements and prepare more rigorously for upcoming international competitions following their recent match in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

Speaking to the team at Sea Bird Express in Lungi, President Bio commended the national team’s efforts, particularly their 2-1 victory over Djibouti on Sunday in Casablanca, Morocco.

He acknowledged the players’ commitment throughout the qualifiers and emphasized that improved organization and performance are vital for success in future tournaments.

President Bio also assured the players and officials that the government will continue to support and engage with them. During his visit, he personally welcomed the team and coaching staff, challenging them to build on their recent performance and aim for even greater achievements.

Although Sierra Leone secured a victory over Djibouti, the team was unable to advance to the next round of the World Cup qualifiers.
