The Anti-Corruption Commission of Sierra Leone (ACC-SL), under Commissioner Francis Ben Kaifala Esq., has handed over a second cheque of One Million New Leones (Le1,000,000) to the Chief Administrator of the Freetown City Council (FCC), Mr. Rahman Tom Farmar.
This amount is equivalent to One Billion Old Leones (Le1,000,000,000), representing funds that were initially embezzled from the council.
The handover, which took place at Integrity House, Tower Hill, Freetown, on Tuesday, 21 October 2025, marks the second tranche of funds recovered from the Le3 Billion Old Leones misappropriated by some council staff in collusion with a commercial bank.
According to the ACC, the stolen funds, initially taken in old Leones, have now been fully recovered following a detailed investigation. The Commission emphasized that the second payment demonstrates progress toward the complete restitution of the total Le3 Billion.
In addition to the financial recovery, the ACC disclosed that administrative sanctions have already been imposed on those involved, while prosecutions of key offenders are expected to follow.
The handover marks another milestone in the ACC’s broader efforts to strengthen accountability in public institutions and ensure that public resources are used for the benefit of Citizens.
