All People’s Congress (APC) flagbearer aspirant, Hon. Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah, popularly known as Chericoco, has called for a united and urgent national response to combat the alarming spread of kush and other harmful drugs across Sierra Leone.

Speaking during a community engagement at Mount Aureol in Freetown’s east end, Hon. Chericoco described the drug crisis as a national emergency threatening the lives and future of Sierra Leone’s youth. He urged community leaders, government agencies, and citizens to take collective responsibility in addressing the growing menace.

“This epidemic is destroying the dreams of many young Sierra Leoneans. We must act decisively and together,” he stated.

The APC Flagbearer Aspirant further appealed to the government to reinforce border controls and strengthen efforts to prevent the importation of kush, tramadol, and other dangerous substances. He also emphasized the need for increased funding to the Ministry of Health to support rehabilitation and awareness programs.

Hon. Chericoco reaffirmed his party’s readiness to collaborate with the government in combating the drug epidemic, stressing that the fight against substance abuse must transcend political lines.

“This is not an APC or SLPP issue — it is a national crisis that demands national unity,” he added.
