Former Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President Isha Johansen has publicly apologized to current Leone Stars Head Coach Mohamed Kallon for an incident that occurred over a decade ago, describing it as “unfortunate” and “deeply regretful.”

The altercation, which took place in 2014, became one of the most controversial moments in Sierra Leone’s football history, when Johansen reportedly smacked Kallon during a heated exchange over football administration matters.

Speaking in a recent interview, Johansen acknowledged the event and expressed remorse for her actions. “It was an unfortunate and very regretful moment,” she said. “As leaders, we are human and not without faults. I have learned and grown from that experience.”

Her comments have sparked renewed discussion about reconciliation and leadership within Sierra Leone’s football community, especially as Kallon continues to rise in his coaching career and is rumored to have ambitions for the SLFA Presidency.

When asked whether she would support Kallon should he decide to contest for the position, Johansen offered a measured but pointed response.

“Just because you played football doesn’t mean you can become a good football administrator,” she said, implying that while Kallon’s legacy as a player is unquestionable, football governance requires a different set of skills, discipline, and administrative experience.

During Johansen reign as President of the Sierra Leone Football Association, there was a bitter row between the two football Ambassadors that warranted the intervention of the country’s political and affairs Ministry for settlement.

The row occurred on the 6th March following a match after an FA Cup match involving FC Kallon’s team, Kallon FC Junior

The former inter Milan and Monaco player alleged he was slapped on the back of the neck by Johansen after the match.

Johansen contested this and claimed she acted in Self defense after Kallon pushed her. She also alleged that she was verbally abused.

The matter was reported to the police by both Kallon and Isha. Kallon was detained by the police for about seven hours questioning and was released on $11,000 Conditional bail.
