A 36-year-old civil engineer, Fassineh Kamara, reportedly appeared before the Pademba Road Court No. 1 on Tuesday to answer allegations of murder following the death of one Abdulai Kamara.
The incident, which is said to have occurred on October 24, 2025, at 47 Jenner Wright Road, Up Gun, in Freetown, has sparked significant attention.
Kamara was formally charged with murder under the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861, a law that has since been repealed and replaced by the Abolition of Death Penalty Act of 2021.
The accused did not enter a plea during his first court appearance, as he is currently subject to a preliminary investigation.
The court proceedings were presided over by Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah, who denied Kamara bail, citing the seriousness of the charge.
Assistant Superintendent of Police, Ibrahim S. Mansaray, the prosecutor in the case, informed the court that all relevant documents pertaining to the case had been served to the defendant.
Due to the grave nature of the charges, Magistrate Jah ordered that Kamara remain in custody at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown. The case has been adjourned to November 27, 2025, for further proceedings.
