Born-2-Blog has been reportedly invited to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) after a complaint was filed by a man identified as Jay-Jay, who was mentioned in an interview published by the online media outlet.

The summons places the platform’s Chief Executive Officer, Sahr Memphis, at the centre of a developing dispute over a story involving the late Bureh Ganso Koroma, a former player of Born-2-Blog FC and Mighty Blackpool FC, who sustained severe injure while on national duty.

The information comes from an official statement posted on the Born-2-Blog Facebook page. According to the outlet, Jay-Jay, a family member of late man, lodged his complaint after the platform aired an interview with the widow of the late Bureh, who accused him of refusing to sign documents that would have allowed the release of funds for her husband’s medical treatment.

The injury of the deceased reportedly occurred during a friendly match between the Leone Stars home-based team and Mighty Blackpool.

In its statement, Born-2-Blog insisted that it did not make any accusations against Jay Jay, saying its role was limited to giving the widow an opportunity to explain her side of the story.

“We only provided a platform for the wife to express her own experience,” the outlet stated. “Yet, instead of addressing the person who mentioned his name, he chose to report the platform that simply gave space for her voice to be heard.”

The platform questioned whether the complaint was an attempt “to silence the media and intimidate those who provide avenues for public expression.”

The statement further emphasized the outlet’s commitment to what it described as fairness, truth, justice and accountability, noting that it remains “firm and fearless.”

Born-2-Blog said its team, accompanied by its lawyer, will honor the CID invitation. It also referenced Section 25(1) of the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone, which guarantees freedom of expression, including the right to receive and share information.

The outlet assured the public that it will provide updates as the situation progresses.
