Sierra Leone’s President and current Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State, Dr. Julius Maada Bio, arrived in Côte d’Ivoire today ahead of the inauguration of President-elect Alassane Ouattara.

President Bio landed at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport on Sunday, December 7, where he was received by Ivorian Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé, along with senior government officials and members of the diplomatic corps.

The visit is in observation of the swearing-in ceremony for President Ouattara, who secured re-election in the Ivorian presidential polls held on October 25, 2025.

According to the State House, President Bio’s attendance in his capacity as ECOWAS Chairman highlights Sierra Leone’s commitment to regional cooperation and democratic consolidation.

The visit also aims to strengthen bilateral ties with Côte d’Ivoire and reinforce collective efforts toward peace and economic integration across West Africa.
