A ten-year-old girl, identified as Ismatu Kargbo, is receiving medical treatment after she was allegedly stabbed by her mother in Port Loko Town.
The incident occurred at New London along the Kambia Road.
According to early reports, the child was asleep when the suspect, identified as Lucy Conteh, reportedly attacked her with a knife, inflicting a severe injury to her throat. Neighbors and family members responded after hearing distress calls and quickly transported the child to the Port Loko Regional Government Hospital.
Medical officials at the hospital confirmed that the victim arrived in critical condition and underwent emergency surgery. She is currently under close medical observation and is responding to treatment.
