The Ministry of Information and Civic Education, in partnership with the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, will host the Salone Civic Festival 2025 at Freetown’s Youyi Building.
Billed as the largest civic gathering in Sierra Leone’s history, the three-day event aims to foster national and international dialogue on civic engagement.
The festival will feature keynote speeches, interactive talks, and masterclasses led by a roster of distinguished international guests. Their participation highlights the government’s effort to connect local civic discourse with global expertise.
Key attendees include:
· Dr. Mavuso, a veteran of South Africa’s liberation struggle alongside Nelson Mandela, former senior public servant, and leader of the ANC Veterans’ Movement.
· Dr. Thoai D. Ngo, an international scientist specializing in global public health and sustainable development.
· Daniel Obst, CEO of AFS Intercultural Programs, the world’s largest student exchange network.
· Dr. Judy Kuriansky, a noted clinical psychologist, author, and humanitarian.
· Stefania Giannini, UNESCO’s Assistant Director-General for Education, who will address the global Education 2030 Agenda.
Organizers state the festival will provide a platform for Sierra Leoneans and international participants to share experiences and strengthen civic responsibility. Registration for panel discussions and sessions is now open via the official portal: civicfest.moice.gov.sl/panel-discussions.
