An eighteen-year-old mason, Gibrilla Sowie, made his first appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown, where he was charged with store breaking and larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of offence, on 28 November 2025, at Lumley Mall in the western area of Freetown, the accused allegedly broke and entered the said mall and stole one container of paint, electric cables, and other assorted properties valued at Ten Thousand and Fifty Leones (Le 10,050), property of Lumley Mall.

When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.

The prosecution, led by Inspector Mabel M. Tarawally, served the accused with the relevant court documents, including his voluntary caution statement and charged statement, in compliance with the Criminal Procedure Act of 2024.

The accused was not legally represented.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Jah refused bail and remanded the accused at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to 17 December 2025.
