Hon. Chief Justice Komba Kamanda has released a special message commemorating the first anniversary of his tenure, using the occasion to highlight significant reforms and express gratitude to the nation’s judicial workforce.

The message, published in a special edition of The Judiciary magazine, outlines a year focused on decentralization, innovation, and strengthening public confidence in the legal system.

Marking December 16, 2024, as the anniversary date, Chief Justice Kamanda framed the publication as “a testament to the resilience, professionalism, and unwavering dedication” of judges, magistrates, and support staff nationwide.

“Your commitment to upholding the rule of law, delivering justice with integrity, and expanding access to justice especially through our decentralization and innovation agenda continues to inspire confidence in our judicial system,” Kamanda stated, addressing the judicial staff.

The Chief Justice acknowledged that the reform process has often taken place under challenging circumstances and extended his gratitude to those who have supported the transition. He noted that this hard work has laid a “strong foundation” for building a judiciary that is independent, transparent, and responsive to the needs of the public.

Looking toward the future, Justice Kamanda reaffirmed his commitment to judicial excellence, institutional accountability, and the strengthening of public trust in the courts. He expressed hope that the new publication, titled The Judiciary, would serve as both a celebration of shared achievements and a reminder of the work that remains.

“The wheels of justice are turning steadily and with purpose,” Kamanda said, inviting the public to explore the progress made and the promise of a brighter future for justice in Sierra Leone.
