TOCU Destroys Illicit Drugs Worth Over US$1 Million

The Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) of the Sierra Leone Police, working in collaboration with other security institutions, on Saturday, 27 December 2025, commenced the public destruction of a large consignment of illicit drugs valued at more than one million United States dollars. The exercise was carried out in compliance with an order of the High Court of Sierra Leone.

The Court further directed that a significant quantity of exhibits connected to ongoing cases and inquiry files listed in the order also be destroyed. However, samples of the substances were preserved to support future analysis and prosecution processes.

Before the destruction, officials invited key stakeholders and members of the high table to inspect the seized exhibits. The controlled substances were then transported to a designated destruction site, where they were publicly destroyed under strict adherence to the Court’s directive.
