Staff members of the United States Embassy in Freetown on Thursday, January 15, 2026, visited children at the Kissy Mental Hospital as part of an outreach initiative aimed at spreading care and joy.

During the visit, the children experienced moments of connection and support through donations and interactive activities. The embassy’s Community Liaison Office, together with U.S. Marines personnel, engaged the children through music, colouring, playtime, and other positive interactions, creating a warm and welcoming environment.

The children were also joined by Santa Claus, whose presence brought smiles and excitement as goodie bags were distributed.

The outreach continued at the Wan Fambul Foundation, where children similarly received small gifts and holiday cheer from the visiting delegation.

According to the embassy, the visits reflect a shared commitment to supporting the well-being of children, strengthening community ties, and standing alongside local partners who provide care for vulnerable children on a daily basis.
