Authorities have confirmed that all students at Nyapui Secondary School are safe following a devastating fire that engulfed part of the school’s boarding hostel in the late hours of Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

The fire, which caused significant property damage, was swiftly contained, and no injuries or fatalities have been reported.

The fire affected a section of one of the school’s hostel buildings, prompting an immediate response from emergency services and local authorities.

A spokesperson for Nyapui School reassured the public that all 563 students, who were accounted for, are unharmed. “No lives were lost, and no injuries were recorded,” the school’s statement said.

The Sierra Leone Fire Force, along with local security agencies, emergency responders, and the school’s management, worked together to control the fire and prevent further damage.

The school has activated its emergency protocols and is currently addressing the situation, securing the affected areas, and working on restoring the damaged parts of the hostel. Nyapui School has assured parents, guardians, and the public that it is taking all necessary steps to maintain the safety and wellbeing of its students.
