The First Lady of Sierra Leone and President of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, has dismissed speculations suggesting tension between herself and the Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, describing the claims as unfounded and exaggerated.

Speaking during an interview on AYV Television’s Wake Up Sierra Leone, Dr. Bio states that she and Dr. Sengeh share a relationship rooted in mutual respect, noting that there is no basis for the narratives being circulated in public discourse.

“Dr. David Moinina Sengeh and I have a mutual respect for one another. People are just trying to amplify what does not exist,” she stated.

The First Lady further clarified the constitutional and administrative structure of government, stressing that Dr. Sengeh serves as a minister under the authority of President Julius Maada Bio, to whom he is directly accountable.

“He is a minister to my husband, and he is not answerable to me but to my husband,” Dr. Bio added.

Her remarks were aimed at putting to rest ongoing public speculation, reaffirming respect for institutional roles within government and underscoring unity within the current administration.
