Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh held a series of high-level meetings this week with key international partners, including the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, H.E. Zhao Yong, and the Regional Coordinator of Catholic Relief Services (CRS).
The discussions focused on securing programmatic and technical support for the government’s Medium-Term National Development Plan (MTNDP 2024–2030). Vice President Jalloh provided updates on the new Health Financing Strategy, aimed at ensuring sustainable funding for the country’s medical infrastructure.
“The Health Compact is our national framework for delivering quality services through the strengthening of the primary health system,” Dr. Jalloh said, stressing that strong primary care is the foundation of a healthy nation.
The meeting with Ambassador Zhao follows his recent arrival in Freetown and presentation of credentials in January. Through engagement with CRS and the Chinese mission, the Vice President reinforced the government’s “Big 5 Game Changers” agenda, with a particular focus on Human Capital Development to promote a healthier and more productive workforce.
