The remains of Chief Alhaji Lamin Moseray were laid to rest on Tuesday, 10th February 2026, in his hometown of Bai Largoh, Kori Chiefdom, Moyamba District, following the release of autopsy results confirming the cause of his death.
According to medical findings, Chief Moseray died from severe injuries he sustained during the violent confrontation that erupted at a sand mining site in Taiama on 6th February 2026. The incident, which reportedly involved sand miners and alleged landowners, has left the community in shock and mourning.
Family members, traditional authorities, and residents gathered in large numbers to pay their final respects to the late chief, describing him as a prominent community figure whose death has created a significant loss in the chiefdom.

Meanwhile, the Sierra Leone Police, in collaboration with chiefdom authorities, have intensified investigations to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the incident. Security presence remains noticeable in parts of Taiama as efforts continue to maintain calm and prevent further unrest.

Police sources confirm that more arrests have been made in connection with the violence, and investigations are ongoing to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
