Former Leone Stars captain Steven Caulker has officially stepped into a new chapter of his football journey, announcing his appointment as Assistant Manager of Turkish Super Lig side Konyaspor.
The 34-year-old defender, who spent five years playing in Türkiye, revealed in an interview with Sky Sports that the opportunity came unexpectedly through a friend. Despite the surprise nature of the offer, Caulker said he is excited and fully ready to embrace the challenge.
“It was quite random,” he admitted, “but I’m really looking forward to getting started.”
Caulker acknowledged that the transition from player to assistant manager will require serious dedication and preparation, especially with Konyaspor set to face Turkish giants Galatasaray in their upcoming fixture.
The former Leone Stars skipper’s move marks an important milestone in his career, signaling his shift from leadership on the pitch to leadership from the technical bench.
