The Internal Elections Management Committee (IEMC) of the All People’s Congress (APC) has announced the cancellation of Ward Executive Elections held on Saturday, 21st February 2026, in several wards across Sierra Leone.

In a letter dated 26th February 2026 to the APC National Secretary General, the IEMC said the decision follows a comprehensive post-election review and assessment of reports from District Coordinators, field election officers, and other stakeholders. The review revealed significant procedural, administrative, and operational irregularities in certain wards, which materially affected the integrity and credibility of the electoral process.

The Committee emphasized that the cancellation aligns with its constitutional mandate to ensure that all internal party elections are conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner, in accordance with the APC Constitution (2022), Elections Regulations, and approved guidelines.

The affected wards include:

  • Kono: Ward 091

  • Western Area Rural: Wards 386, 387
  • Western Area West: Wards 427, 430, 431, 443

The IEMC stated that the cancellation is intended to safeguard the integrity of the Party’s internal democratic processes and ensure that all elections are conducted under conditions that guarantee fairness, transparency, and equal participation for all eligible members and candidates.

The Committee added that it will communicate the administrative and logistical arrangements for addressing the identified issues, including the modalities for holding fresh Ward Executive Elections in the affected areas.
