Police in Kono District have reportedly arrested a man in connection with the death of a two-year-old child following an alleged rape incident in Koidu City.
According to sources within the Sierra Leone Police, the child reportedly lost her life instantly during the incident. The suspect, who is said to be a neighbor of the victim, was taken into custody shortly after the matter was reported.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect is currently assisting with investigations and undergoing interrogation. Police described the case as a serious criminal matter and assured the public that due process is being followed.
“The suspect is in custody and is helping with investigations. He will be formally charged in accordance with the laws of Sierra Leone after preliminary investigations are concluded,” report confirmed.
The tragic incident has sent shockwaves across Koidu City and surrounding communities in Kono District, with residents expressing grief and outrage over the child’s death.
