Zainab Sheriff has once again been denied bail and sent back to prison following her fifth appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Brima on Wednesday, 18th March 2026.

She was subsequently remanded at the female correctional facility in Freetown as proceedings in her case continue.

Sheriff is standing trial on charges of incitement and threatening language, contrary to Section 30(1) of the Public Order Act of 1965. The court has consistently refused her bail on all occasions since her first appearance.

The matter has been adjourned to March 25, 2026, to enable the defense to determine its position, after the prosecution formally closed its case.

According to the prosecution, the accused allegedly made statements capable of inciting violence on Saturday, 31st January 2026, at the Brima Attouga Mini Stadium within the Freetown Judicial District.

Prosecutors further contend that her remarks were directed at individuals accused of election rigging, suggesting that those allegedly responsible for cheating “eight million people” should not go free. Law enforcement authorities maintain that such statements could provoke violence and undermine public order.

The case is expected to continue later this month, with the court awaiting the defense’s next course of action.
