The Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) has announced the death of veteran journalist Saffie Kamara, describing her passing as a significant loss to the media fraternity in the country.
In an official statement dated 1st April 2026, SLAJ confirmed that Madam Kamara died on Tuesday, 31st March 2026, in Kono District, Eastern Region.
“The Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) regrets to announce the passing of our sister and colleague, Saffie Kamara. This sad event occurred on Tuesday, 31st March 2026, in Kono District, Eastern Region,” the statement read.

Until her death, Madam Kamara was widely known for her role in the media industry, having served as the former Station Manager of Shalom Radio in Kabala, Koinadugu District. Her contribution to community broadcasting and journalism development earned her recognition among colleagues and listeners alike.
SLAJ, in its tribute, expressed sympathy over her passing and acknowledged her service to the profession. The association concluded its announcement with a prayer, stating, “May the Lord have mercy on her soul and grant her eternal rest in perfect peace.”
Further details regarding funeral arrangements have not yet been disclosed.
