An unfinished building at 87 Blackhall Road, Kissy, opposite Mende Church, collapsed on Wednesday, claiming the lives of two children and leaving a third in critical condition. The tragic incident has shocked the local community and prompted an immediate response from emergency services.
According to eyewitnesses, part of the multi-storey structure gave way shortly before local emergency teams arrived, falling onto the area where children were reportedly playing. Neighbours and passersby assisted in initial rescue efforts until professional responders reached the scene.

Fire and rescue teams, ambulance crews, and police quickly secured the site, conducting search and recovery operations. Authorities have cordoned off the area, and structural engineers are expected to examine the construction practices, permits, and adherence to safety protocols at the unfinished site.
At the time of reporting, formal statements from municipal authorities and the building developer were still pending.
The collapse has left neighbours grieving and raised concerns about construction safety in the area. Local leaders and residents are calling for a thorough investigation and stronger enforcement of building regulations to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
