Popular Sierra Leonean rapper Alhaji Amadu Bah, widely known as King Boss La or LAJ, has been returned to custody following his third appearance at the Bo Magistrate Court on charges of insulting conduct and cyberbullying directed at Kenema Mayor Thomas Karimu Baio.
The case has been adjourned to April 21, 2026, for further hearing, according to court sources.
LAJ, who also serves as a government-appointed Peace Ambassador, is facing three counts related to an incident on March 21, 2026, at the Bo Shopping Plaza, during which he allegedly referred to Mayor Baio as “a bastard” during a live performance. The remarks were captured on video and circulated widely on social media.
His co-accused, Ibrahim Koroma, also known as Prezo Koroma, faces similar charges related to the distribution of the content on social media platforms.
During a previous court appearance on April 8, 2026, LAJ knelt before Mayor Baio in the courtroom and pleaded for forgiveness, showing what witnesses described as deep remorse. His associate, Prezo Koroma, also offered an apology.
On April 9, 2026, LAJ issued a formal public apology, writing of “deep humility and sincere regret” over his emotional outburst. He extended his apology to the Mayor of Kenema, the people of Kenema, and all Sierra Leoneans, accepting full responsibility for his conduct.
“My conduct fell short of the level of respect and responsibility expected of me as a public figure,” LAJ stated in his apology.
Despite the public displays of contrition, Magistrate Samuel James Brima has declined to dismiss the case, stating that criminal proceedings must continue according to law. The magistrate has previously noted that while the apology was noted, it “does not override the judicial process”
On April 11, 2026, key stakeholders in Kenema convened at Mayor Baio’s private residence for a high-level meeting to discuss possible reconciliation. The meeting, chaired by DJ Snow, revealed divided opinions, with some advocating for forgiveness while others urged caution.
Mayor Baio has stated clearly that he is not seeking financial compensation but genuine accountability. His conditions for any potential out-of-court resolution include a signed undertaking from LAJ, a comprehensive public apology through video and local radio broadcasts targeting audiences in Kenema, and the possibility of a performance ban in the Eastern Region.

LAJ, you will soon join Zainab Sheriff for over four years. Ur apology is enough now boo
What LAJ did was totally wrong, but if God can forgive our sins, then who are we not to forgive one other.
Public mistakes public corrections let him apologize to the public by doing video clip or else we can’t accept his foolish apology
