The Sierra Leone Immigration Department (SLID) has launched the decentralisation of passport services and unveiled operational vehicles in Kenema City to improve service delivery for residents and surrounding communities.
The launch, held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, forms part of the Government of Sierra Leone’s modernisation drive, spearheaded by Chief Immigration Officer Moses Tiffa Baio, aimed at extending immigration services to provincial headquarters.
Minister of Internal Affairs, AIG (Rtd.) Morie Lengor Esq., served as the keynote speaker and officially commissioned the decentralised passport services while unveiling the operational vehicles during the ceremony.
The newly commissioned vehicles are expected to support the rollout and strengthen nationwide enforcement of the Unified Resident and Work Permit system.
