First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Fatima Maada Bio, on 16 April 2026 joined Her Excellency Zita Oligui Nguema, First Lady of the Republic of Gabon, at a high-level Presidential Dinner held in Libreville.

The engagement brought together both First Ladies in an intimate but strategic setting ahead of the official launch of Gabon’s national “BUILDINGRESILIENCE” campaign.

Although hosted in a formal atmosphere of diplomatic hospitality, the discussions during the evening centred on policy priorities and regional development challenges affecting African nations. The two First Ladies exchanged views on strengthening cooperation and addressing emerging socio-economic issues across the continent.

Speaking after the event, Fatima Maada Bio commended her Gabonese counterpart for her leadership and vision, noting that the engagement reflected a shared commitment to building stronger and more resilient societies across Africa.

The dinner concluded with both First Ladies reaffirming their commitment to continued collaboration under the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), with expectations of future joint initiatives aimed at advancing development and resilience across member states.
