A heavy storm that swept through the Western Area has left several communities without electricity after causing damage to parts of the distribution network, the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) announced on May 6, 2026.
The affected communities include Barmouth Community, Barmoi Hotel, Murray Town Barracks, Grammar School, Okeky, KADCO, Kuntorloh Community, Spur Road, Spur Loop, Chinese, Orugu Village, Upper Medical Store, and New England.
In a press release, EDSA confirmed that its technical teams have identified the faults and repair works are actively underway. Crews have been deployed to ensure safe and timely restoration of power supply to all affected areas.
The Authority apologised for the inconvenience caused by the outage and assured the public that every effort is being made to restore service in the shortest possible time.
EDSA appealed for patience and understanding from its valued customers as repair work continues.
